Terms and conditions

Using your Payowire account and cards

You may spend from your account and cards up to the available balance at merchants that accept the relevant card network. If the available balance is not enough, some merchants will not let you split the purchase with another payment method.

Transactions may be limited by card type, spending patterns, and risk checks. For anti-money laundering and fraud prevention we may change payment limits without notice when required by regulation.

Lost or stolen security details or physical cards

If you have a physical card linked to your account, it may be used (subject to the issuer’s terms) for ATM and bank cash withdrawals, within any limit set by the ATM operator or bank.

Each transaction and any related fee is deducted from your available balance. We do not send paper statements. You can check your balance and history by signing in.

Merchants (and ATM operators, where applicable) seek authorization before processing a transaction. If they cannot obtain authorization, they may decline the payment. Once a transaction is authorized it generally cannot be cancelled.

Transfers between accounts and cards

When enabled, you may move available balance between your Payowire accounts or cards. If you instruct a transfer, the amount is debited from the source and credited to the destination. A transfer fee may apply.

Some merchants (for example fuel pumps or hotels) may require a balance higher than the expected bill, or place a pre-authorization hold. A hold can last up to 30 days until the merchant captures or releases it.

Some merchants may not accept our accounts or cards. It is your responsibility to check before you pay. We are not liable if a merchant declines the payment method.

Refunds and unauthorized transactions

A transaction is unauthorized if you did not consent to it. Contact us through the website as soon as you believe a payment was made without your consent.

After a card is issued by the bank partner, card-issue fees are generally not refundable. If we determine a refund is appropriate in a specific case, we will consider it. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may raise a complaint using our complaints process.

Acceptable use

We may refuse a payment if it would breach these terms, or if we reasonably believe you or a third party has committed or intends to commit fraud or another unlawful use of the services.

Access may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance. Contact customer support if you have trouble using a card or account.
